Immersive Nature Experience
San Francisco Bay Area
Forest Therapy Guided Walks
-
Originated by Japanese researchers in the 1980s looking to improve the health of their increasingly tech-based citizens; known as “Forest Bathing” or Shinrin-yoku.
Promoted for healing and wellness as proven through scientific and anecdotal findings.
Adapted by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) to include a relational approach to reconnect with nature, yourself, and each other.
-
Focuses on fostering a reciprocal relationship between the forest and the practitioner.
Embraces individual inspiration, creativity, and serendipity within a clearly defined sequence of guided invitations.
Engages participants authentically without a desire for pre-determined outcomes.
Maintains “the forest is the therapist, the guide opens the door.” - ANFT

Trees naturally release an antibacterial and antifungal chemical called phytoncides to fight diseases.
Humans inhale or absorb phytoncides through our skin when we are in green spaces, and our bodies produce special white blood cells called natural killer cells (NK-cells) which seek and destroy cancer cells.
Green spaces can be found anywhere: in your home, in a garden, in a cityscape, or on a school campus.
-
Think of this walk like a gallery walk in an art museum, with nature as our works of art.
On this gentle 1.5 to 2-hour slow wander, we will move through a series of sensory and open invitations to support you in finding your own authentic way of interacting with the natural environment while building community with your fellow participants.
There's no right or wrong way to participate - just come and be yourself.

Hello! My name is Tammy, and I’m a certified forest therapy guide through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT).
I was born and raised in San Francisco, lived in Los Angeles, and returned home to the Bay Area in 2019. In my free time, I am often out exploring quiet cafes, bustling cities, peaceful lakes, roaring waterfalls, and silent sequoias with a sassy rescue pup named Chloe.
For event requests, collaborations, and other inquiries, please fill out this form or email me at bayforestwalks@gmail.com.
“The forest is the therapist, the guide opens the doors.”
“This is not a walk, in the traditional sense, but an expansion of one’s perception regarding the appreciation of nature and the opening of one’s senses.”
“No matter what path you are walking in life right now, a walk like this is a treat to healing the body, mind, and soul. ”
Testimonials
